Marlborough
The Marlborough Sounds is like a giant maze of deep waterways that forge inland for almost 40km. Their complex geography provides natural shelter to mariners from the four winds that so regularly whip-up the Tasman Sea and Cook Strait. There are literally hundreds of tranquil bays and points of historical interest throughout.
Marlborough has spectacular scenery, glistening waterways, fine wines and food, gardens, adventure activities along with an enjoyable sunny climate. It's New Zealand’s biggest grape-growing region and attracts enthusiasts from around the world to its Wine Marlborough Festival held every February.
Blenheim claims to be the sunniest town in New Zealand, with an estimated average of 2438 hours of sunshine a year.
