Historic Seaside Cottage

LOVED this beautiful house on the inlet. So peaceful, yet entertained all day with birds and walks and the occasional friendly neighbour out walking. Every comfort was provided and the bed was extra comfortable in the master bedroom (just us two, so didn't try the others, hut they looked cosy). We had a chilly Otago anniversary weekend, but we were lovely and warm in the cottage. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful quirky cottage(s) right in the Purakanui Inlet. Can't beat the location or the old NZ charm. Tiny rooms with loads of character. Gorgeous sunsets and fresh clams for dinner right off your front porch. And if you're lucky, you might get to meet the local octopus.

This property is a special historic building on an even more special site. In fact unique. It is an experience to stay there in itself without all the potential activities it offers. I found myself putting down my book and just looking - you have the continual play of light, weather and tides right on your doorstep. Plus we swam, paddled, rowed, fished, cockled and walked. We didn't want to turn the TV on and have commercials intrude on such a special, timeless world.

A small piece of paradise -- the property is well taken care of, all of our needs were met with how the house was equipped, and we valued the privacy and quaintness. The owner have given much TLC to making this bach a GEM.

What a magic week. The location of the bach right on the edge of the estuary is absolutely the most relaxing spot. The tides coming and going, the birdlife, sea life and other people enjoying the estuary, I found there was always something to watch. I loved the kayak, the beach being so handy and the wild blackberries we found. Close enough to Dunedin and the cute shopping and cafe in Port Chalmers but remote enough to feel like your really away from it all.
