  • Our house is just above Leigh Harbour (aboveareserve)on7acresofmainlybush & organic gardens.

Our self contained holiday house is situated just above Leigh Harbour (above a reserve) on 7 acres of mainly bush & organic gardens. We have spectacular views over the Leigh Harbour, across the wharf, & out to Barrier & Tawharanui. It is very peaceful & private but we are not isolated. You can walk down our track to the harbour & wharf, around to the shops & back home, perhaps popping into the Leigh Sawmill Cafe on your way. We are just 5 mins from Goat Island Marine Reserve & Matheson Bay, 10 mins from beautiful Pakiri beach & a short drive from the many great cafes & vineyards in this area.
There are 3 double bedrooms each with an ensuite. The master bedroom has views as described above, & a wet floor bathroom. You can lie in bed & watch the boats or just enjoy the antics of our resident bird life, lots of kingfishers, kereru (NZ native pigeons), kaka (our native parrots), quail, tuis & sometimes a family of pheasants. The house is set up for use by anyone with a physical disability or in a wheelchair, please enquire for further details. The kitchen/lounge area is open plan with a fully equipped kitchen, including a microwave & dishwasher, and yes we provide a coffee plunger. There is a fireplace for those cold wet (romantic) weekends (with lots of firewood), a TV, video, CD & DVD player, some videos DVD's & CDs, books, magazines & games. There are a couple of body boards, snorkels, masks & flippers, tennis racquets & basic fishing gear avail ($100 bond refundable on departure). Outside we have a BBQ & eating area at the rear of the house, as well as another table & benches out on the front lawn under our large old Totara tree. You can sit & sip your coffee or wine while watching the comings & goings in the harbour. We can provide all linen, by prior arrangement, including towels, but please bring your own beach towels. •  Despite stormy weather and a day without power because of this, we enjoyed our stay at Nearlleigh. Beautiful bush surroundings and views, a nice spacious house and lovely log burner (we certainly needed it!).. The track down to the bay through the bush was a bit tricky to navigate and needs some work (or maybe should be advised as a track primarily for summertime use). I definitely recommend a stay at Nearleigh.

  •  Beautiful spot and lovely house - looking for another opportunity to stay there

  •  Great location, very restful and suited our needs perfectly.
