On Colville Road, 13 km north of Coromandel town, right opposite Papa Aroha Bush Reserve. Coastal position very close to sea and beaches (but no sea view from inside apartment). Easy but discrete track (3 min walk) through reserve to reach a very secluded swimming and sunbathing beach.
200m to excellent boat ramp, store, telephone, canoe & boat hire, water taxi to offlying islands.
This really is an excellent base for exploring the beautiful Coromandel Peninsula. Enjoy good fishing and swimming, bush and river walks, local tourist attractions, and the Coromandel Craft Trail. Enormous easy access carpark has plenty of room for large trailers and support vehicles - this is your perfect basecamp for Kings of the Coromandel fishing competition, and for cycle and kayak teams or film crews.
This is also a perfect base from which to enjoy the Great Coromandel Arts Trail - more than 25 great artists open their studios to you - usually on each of the first three weekends of May. With glass, ceramic, jewellery, painting, printmaking, photography, sculpture, carving, textile and fibre art, woodworking there really is something for everyone!
You will often hear kiwis at night in the adjacent bush reserve, and you can join the generations ofamilies who have photographed their children on the historic "Big Tomato" (visit him on his own new Facebook page "The Big Tomato PapaAroha"
Just 15 minute further up the road toward the northern tip of Coromandel is the historic settlement of Colville. Now under new management, the characterful Colville Cafe/restaurant offers great food and coffees, and is open for lunches and dinners most nights (bookings recommended, check opening days for evening meals during winter).

Great position for easy access to the sea with via Papa Aroha camp site which is only a few hundred yards away for us fisherman. Good clean facilities and plenty of off street parking.

This is the perfect place to get away from it all. From the homely environment of the house to the exceptional view from the garden deck to the gorgeous little private beach. We had a fantastic time and would recommend it to everyone.
