The deck is partially covered so you can still barbecue in the rain - not that it will rain on your holiday of course!;
There's a table tennis table and a couple of bikes in the garage for the kids;

Across the road is the 9-hole golf course. Green fees are very reasonable.
Whangamata Surf Club and the beautiful beach is a 5 minute walk.
Port Rd and the Whangamata shops are a 2-minute drive.
Beautiful bush walks in Wentworth Valley, Onemana and Oputere are a 5-10-minute drive away. The Onemana forest walk is stunning. Drive north out of Whangamata and take the Onemana turn off. After about 1km, look for the Forest Park turn off on the right. Drive down the metal road about 3km, then take the left fork to a car park. Walk through the bush then down a cliff zigzag to an isolated white sand beach with no road access
