Merita Cottage is situated at the end of the ridge that stands above Karikari Peninsula’s Perehipe Bay. Down a ‘right of way’ drive, it sits on the last property in the street. Almost surrounded by bush, Merita Cottage offers peace, privacy and birdsong.
The cottage is about the size and configuration of a studio apartment. The exposed ceiling trusses and walls are finished in white, the many windows provide lots of light. Merita Cottage is bright and airy accommodation.
There is one double bed and a single, a small yet functional bathroom and a kitchen equipped with all you might need. Decorated with original works by local artists, a selection of eclectic books and a small colour TV. There is plenty of safe off-street parking and a small flat lawn adjacent to the cottage is an ideal spot to pitch a tent or park a boat trailer.
The cottage shares the same land as a larger home that overlooks Perehipe Bay. Whilst there are glimpses of the bay from the cottage, the main view is in the opposite direction, through a gap in the Manuka up towards the summit of the Merita Ridge.
Merita Cottage is a minute’s drive from sheltered and picturesque Perehipe Bay. Tucked in behind a headland on the Doubtless Bay side of Karikari Peninsula it is a very safe, family-friendly beach. The protected location makes the boat ramp a safe and simple gateway to the world renowned fishing of Doubtless Bay.
The Far North is the home of many scenic jewels, arguably NZ's finest beaches, Merita Cottage is ideally located to explore them all.
Merita Cottage is professionally managed, you will be welcomed when you arrive and should you require any assistance during your stay, help is just a phone call away.
