Bach or holiday home | Hihi Beach | #10076
Waitetoki is located at the Eastern end of Hihi beach in Doubtless Bay. The secluded 56 hectare private property is part of the 1600 hectare Whakaangi Landcare Trust, Far North Kiwi Project.
Ruru (Morepork), & Kiwi call at night close to the house (and if you are really lucky you can see them) Tui call all day. More than 10kms of tracks take you into the beautiful native bush. An easy 3min stroll down the drive takes you to the rocky foreshore and the mouth of the Waitetoki stream. Plenty of clean water supplied by a spring deep in the bush and the property boasts a fresh water pool in the creek close to the house, really good for rinsing off that salt from a swim in the sea and cooling off after a bush walk or a game of cricket on the large grass lawn.
The tracks are easy, and a map is available.

A little slice of paradise! Absolutely loved our stay here. Wonderful secluded setting - surrounded by native bush and birdsong - with lovely outdoor seating areas and plenty of room for lawn games, great for kids. House is well-equipped with everything you need for a comfortable stay, while retaining the charm of a good old kiwi bach, ie not too fancy! We loved feeding the eels, catching snapper from the kayaks and smoking them, running the beautifully maintained bush tracks. Hope to come back!
What a fantastic week we had staying at Waitetoki, such a beautiful place to bring our friends from the UK. Lots of firsts for them and we didn't even have to leave the property; night visits to the glow worms, hearing the kiwi, feeding the eels, smoking fresh snapper and kahawai and fun family meals outside under the shade of the grapevines. It is also very central, not far to travel to Mangonui, Whangaraoa, Matauri Bay and the Bay of Islands. A truly magical place. Berry/Alderson families
It is rare to be able to stay in a bush environment in such pristine condition, maintained and cared for as nature intended. Waitetoki is a fabulous destination for anyone wanting to experience the natural NZ bush. There are challenging bush walks around the property, wildlife to observe and an endless supply of games, both indoor and outdoor, to keep all ages entertained. This is our second visit to Waitetki; it won't be our last. Steve and Marion, Perth, Australia.
