Bach or holiday home | Havelock North | #10200
John's House is an architectural gem - one of the last designed by John Scott and built in 1990. John's House shares space on our sublime rural property with our own home and the recently completed Pete Bossley designed 'Pavilion' . We have over 2 hectares of rural paradise just 3 minutes drive from both Havelock North and Hastings. Massive lawns and gardens with a mix of natives, exotics and fruit trees plus a large pond, swimming pool
John's House can be your base to explore the best of Hawke's Bay - most major attractions are within 20 minutes drive - or a destination in itself with the perfect ingredients for peace, calm and comfort.
Enjoy a complimentary breakfast of homemade bread and preserves, muesli, fresh fruit and farm eggs before the day's activities.
The property is also a wonderful venue for functions. We are pet and children friendly and very happy to share our knowledge of the area and provide some pretty special ideas for 'things to do'.
These might include exploring the extensive cycle trails through a wide variety of landscape around the bay, taking a wine tasting tour, or spending a leisurely Sunday morning at New Zealand's best farmers' market - just along the road in Hastings. Buy some fresh or gourmet ingredients to create a fabulous meal to enjoy at John's House, in front of an open fire And for all the architecture aficionados there's also Art Deco style to enjoy in Napier, only 20 minutes' drive away, and a lovely hot swim.
Te Mata Park in Havelock North provides fabulous walking trails through redwood and native forests, as well as an amazing view from the top of Te Mata Peak. So much to see - at any month of the year, John's House provides the perfect base from which to enjoy a great holiday, for all the family.

A quiet paradise overlooking a lovely rural setting, but 5 minutes walk to the centre of Havelock north. We loved playing in the refreshing pool and especially loved the history of the house and the historical significance of the story that went with it. Thanks Nick, we will be back!
Charming house - full of intriguing corners and welcoming spaces. Set in an orchard with great vistas and a real sense of peace. 10 minutes walk along the river into Havelock North, with its great cafes and restaurants (not to mention an outstanding shoe shop),
