Description

This home is possibly unique in the Southern Hemisphere.

The home frontage is in the Pacific Ocean at high tide.

Situated on the southern side of the northern arm,

of North (Moana Cove) Cove, on Kawau Island. (See Google Maps). It is north west facing and benefits from the luxury of full sun from mid morning onwards, till sunset.

The jetty, attached to the house, can be used for arrivals and departures approximately one to two hours either side of the high tide. It would be advisable to coordinate the tide and the ferry for arrivals and departures.

We have a maximum of four guests at any one time.

Only $125 per night for two adult guests. Extra adults (up to two), are $20 each. If the extra one or two guests are children, (but not toddlers), who are 15 or under, they are free.

Please Note. The upper deck railings are not suitable for unsupervised toddlers.

If you are arriving by your own water transport, please be aware of the tidal nature of Moana Cove. We have a mooring for your boat. Please let us know.

Have a look at kawawisland org. A very informative website If you would like to know more about the Island. Also look on 'You Tube', at "Briar's surprise birthday trip to Kawau Island'. Thanks to Matt and Briar.

Once there, you are virtually in another time and place. There are walking tracks up to the ridge behind the house, then along the ridge to Vivian Bay and beyond.

Just feel and soak up the peace and the quiet, (you can almost hear it), and completely forget about whatever it was that bothered you in Auckland. Listen to the sound of the tui's, wood pigeons, Weka's, seagulls, and the odd distant call of the kookaburras. Feed the sprats off the balcony at high tide, and watch the stingrays glide up the Cove and back with the ebb and flow of the tide.

As we say, "Too much 'serenity', so close to Auckland".

Special conditions:

No smoking inside. Outside tolerated, but please be careful. Fire is our biggest danger.

Total respect for our neighbours at all times!

Please leave the place as you would expect to find it. We have attempted to price the offering on a 'guest clean up basis' to eliminate any cleaning fees for the stay

Please do not use any of the other jetty's on the Island, (except in emergencies). They are all privately owned, and respect for this fact, is valued and appreciated.

NOTE: Please bring your own linen (towels/sheets/tea towels);

  • Looking for a spot of respite from what ever you need to...

Looking for a spot of respite from what ever you need to get away from? Well a 30min water taxi ride from mainland NZ can take you there. Simple yet delightful Kiwi Bach with everything you'll need right down to a bead maker. Walk to a beach or restaurant or just let the world float by while you sit on one of the 4 decks. Amazingly close to the madding crowds yet oh so far away. Another kiwi gem.

  • We had an incredible stay at this bach on Kawau Island over...

We had an incredible stay at this bach on Kawau Island over Easter. It's exactly what we wanted - a bit of peace and quiet but also the chance to kayak and fish! We were only there for two nights but it felt much longer. We returned to Auckland so relaxed. Make the most of the bread maker if you can. I will definitely be back again! Thanks for the lovely stay, Felicity.
