Built in the 1870's, this historic self-contained cottage was the first building on the Longwood site and was where the builders of the original homestead resided while it was under construction.

The architecture is classic colonial and it has been furnished in keeping with the period.

The dining/living area is heated by a potbelly stove, and the kitchen has a modern stove, microwave and fridge. The bathroom has a clawfoot bath.

There is a small verandah with chairs and an enclosed garden.

We are situated 3 kms from Featherston on a 43 acre farm up a long tree-lined drive. It is about 7 mins to Greytown and 10 mins to Martinborough and the vineyards. Lake Ferry is about half an hour, and Cape Palliser, one hour.

    Owner/manager responds:

Indeed it is old ~1854- the oldest building on the property. The builders lived in it while the original Longwood was being built and it is part of the Category 1 Historic Precinct of Longwood.. Thank you so much for coming.
