New Zealand the way it was.Explore the old town with historic buildings, chat with the lovely country people who can tell you some history. View from the road the fabulous Ratana Church high on a hill overlooking the town. See the town many movies have been made in and nearby Horipito where the movie Smash Palace was made. Horipito Motors is a fascinating place to visit.

The Waimarino golf course is nearby and visitors are always welcome.

There is Horse riding at Rangatau and the Raetihi Museum opens Sundays.

Take a picnic or bbq food to Ruatiti domain and if you're lucky see the rare Whio.

Its a 30 minute trip to the Whanganui river at Pipiriki where you can take an exhilarating jet boat from there to The Bridge To Nowhere.

You can step back in time and travel the Whanganui River Road to Whanganui. on the way call in to Jerusalem and see where James K Baxter lived and the Convent built by Sister Suzanne Aubert. • Lovely, querky property

Lovely, querky property. Warm and comfortable. We loved the location, wood fire and bedding. We enjoyed the books on photography and a quick peek into the ajoining art gallery. We couldn't get the DVD player working, and the bathroom basin tap and toilet seat bolts could do with some attention. This didn't detract from our visit and we would definitely stay again.

  • Enjoyed staying here for a few nights

Enjoyed staying here for a few nights. We ran out of hot water, this was put right after a couple of days and we could not find a vacuum cleaner that made it hard to leave as we found it.

  • Very cool little apartment with a touch of old school

Very cool little apartment with a touch of old school. Loved the huge fire box. Well set up with everything we needed. Great alternative to Ohakune - go Raetihi.
