Description

  • Privately located at the end of a no entry for privacy
  • Close to the Colac Bay beach and elevated views of Colac Bay and Kawakaputa Bay
  • Great family and friends bach and perfect for weekends and weeks away.

Positioned only 9km from the small fishing town of Riverton, the Shangri La Crib is ideally located on a hilltop over looking both Colac Bay (Orepuki Bay) and Kawakaputa Bay. Boasting mature gardens and one of the few cribs in the area to have views over both bays, the Shangri La is your home away from home. The ideal place for a weekend getaway from Invercargill or Queenstown, the Shangri La offers all the comforts of home in this idyllic setting. The Shangri La Crib has plenty of space for multiple guests and/or families and has all the modern conveniences you need, whilst maintaining that traditional "Kiwi Bach" feel.

Bright and very warm in the summer, the Shangri La is also an amazing place in the colder months, with a powerful woodburner providing warmth; conducive to whiling away the hours playing games or reading books. The master bedroom has two heaters for winter. The Shangri La is located in Colac Bay (Oraka in Maori), a small township, situated 10 minutes from Riverton, around 25 minutes from Invercargill and around 2h 20 minutes from Queenstown. Located on the Southern Scenic Route, one of New Zealand's most spectacuar drives, Colac Bay is easily accessible from many towns and cities. There is plenty to do in the area, from walks on the beach, bush walks, driving the Southern Scenic Route, visiting nearby Riverton, fishing, collecting mussels, fishing for blue cod, shopping in Invercarcgill or simply relaxing in the Shangri La gardens.

What a great place to stay! Unfortunately the weather wasn't wonderful the week we stayed, but there were plenty of board games to keep us entertained and the house was warm. The Colac bay pub does great meals and the locals are really friendly. Heaps of places to go and visit and it's a beautiful part of the country. We will defiantly be back.

Great little spot with awesome views of the coast from the family room. The well established private garden was fun for the kids to play in. House had everything you needed for a comfy stay and fire kept the living/kitchen area beautifully warm on the chilly evenings and mornings. Larger bedroom was very sunny and a great place to relax. BBQ needed a little love..

  • Loved it

Loved it. Certainly a 'classic' kiwi batch. great views from one of the rooms, a fireplace that warmed up the lounge in no time. Would happily stay there again.

We stayed one night and left, it was not very clean there was no kindling to light the fire and on arrival late at night it was not apparent that there was another space to sleep through a very dark garage so my husband had to sleep on the couch. There was mold on some of the walls fire place still had ash in it , washing on the line all n all not a good start to our holiday, I sent the owner a text saying we would not be staying and could we have our money back minus one night no response.
