  • Quirky and cosy little bach in a countryside setting
  • Only six minutes' drive from town and stunning surfing beaches
  • Peace and tranquility on this rural lifestyle property

Our tranquil one bedroom holiday bach is full of character. Situated in a rural location it is only six-eight minutes from the town and beaches. It comfortably sleeps four but can accommodate two adults in a double and three children in high loft bunks. This a basic but cosy space created with love to give it rustic charm. Much of the space is up-cycled or recycled and is a quirky mix of contemporary and character. Set in the countryside close to the Waimata River, it is commonplace to hear birds and cicadas. The property has had many functions over the years until finally being converted into a small dwelling. There is a covered deck for dining and enjoying a glass of wine while looking out over the ramshackle garden.

There is plenty of outdoor space here.

This is a homestay as the owners are on site. However, the bach is about nine metres away from the main homestead, so is separate and private. We love a chat but also respect the fact that guests often prefer their own space.

This is a peaceful neighbourhood on a 'no exit' road so has very little passing traffic. The property has a rural aspect and guests often comment on the tranquillity and accessibility to beach and town.

We love it when our guests enjoy the property and have a relaxing time. We also love it when they treat it with respect. We ask that guests leave the bach as they found it - clean and tidy - and appreciate that guests understand that this is a 'no party zone'! No smoking in or around the property please.

Sorry pet owners - your beloved furry friends will need a babysitter at home as we are a no pets property.

Please note the loft beds are high and accessed by ladder.

Our bach is treated regularly with repellent but our location means you may encounter bugs, including non-disease carrying native roaches.

Special conditions: Please be aware that this bach is relatively close to water - close supervision of children is highly recommended. Comfortably sleeps 4. Guests enjoy the river at their own risk (access to the river may not be possible at all times due to weather and garden conditions). Steep paths to river - fitness required. One night's deposit to book. A bond is required for most groups during special events (e.g. R&V). Deals on 7 (+) nights. Min of 4 nights over R & V, 2 nights over Labour Weekend.

  • Property was clean, and cosy

Property was clean, and cosy. Showering in claw foot bath with curtain inside bath made it cramped for space with the curtain clinging!, and the step down from the bath would be tricky for elderly or children. These are not complaints, just points to note if you're planning to stay. Was a good base to rest at night!

  • This place was PERFECT! exactly what we were wanting

This place was PERFECT! exactly what we were wanting. it was clean and tidy, functional and funky, and cosy and homely. I loved the layout and design, eating our meals on the deck was wonderful. The setting is idyllic. I adored the beautiful country scenery and sounds. We had everything we needed. and the price was great. Cheers for the stay, I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting a very relaxing slice of country life in the Gisborne area.

The location is quiet with a country outlook, but not to far away from everything. Would be more than happy to stay again and recommend to others. Thanks

  • Better than the photos

Better than the photos. We loved it there. Lovely kitchen and own private out door area. Despite it sharing a property with Sharon's house it felt very private. Would absolutely stay again. Great value.
