Description

A classic Kiwi bach with sensational views from both house and garden. Completely private, beautiful, mature subtropical garden extending right to the sea, with bush reserve on one side. A path winds through the garden to the sea and the garden is for your exclusive use and is not shared by another dwelling. Enjoy the company of the Tuis then watch the sun set into the sea. The section and house face directly north for maximum sun and are completely protected from westerly winds by a flank of Mount Karioi. There is a flat lawn area for outdoor living. Get out of the world famous Whale Bay surf and it’s only a minute’s walk to the bach and a hot shower.

The sound of the sea at night is helpful for people with sleeping problems.

The bach is small, open plan, and has one king and one single bed upstairs. There is a very small bedroom downstairs with a camp stretcher. Bring your own sleeping bag and pillow for this.

Special conditions:

Pets very welcome.

Bed linen provided, but you can bring your own if you wish.

Smoking outside only.

No cellphone coverage from bach, but you can get it 100 metres down the road.

Extras: Linen (included); NOTE: Under Kiwi bach tradition you are expected to: Clean the house and do the dishes before you leave;

  • So private and remote

    So private and remote. Loved being off the grid. I am heavily pregnant so Martin made sure I was aware of a few quirks (steep drive, bathroom downstairs etc) and I completely enjoyed my stay. My partner loved being so close to the surf and we both loved reading the history of the bach and the restoration of the native environment.

    What a peaceful, relaxing spot! Stunning views of the water and beautiful gardens. Simple traditional bach - open floor layout (no separate bedroom upstairs) but it was all we needed for a great weekend getaway. Dogs loved it too. Thanks Martin!

  • Great location

    Great location. Quiet and private. Arriving at night and backing down the driveway in the dark was daunting. Drivers need to pull in close to the verge before attempting to back in.

    Classic NZ utilitarian 50's bach with modern conveniences including hot shower, indoor toilet, electricity and clean delicious drinking water. Very secluded and private, a true getaway place suitable for a couple or small family. Located right on the surf break of Whale bay in Raglan, you have a private access track to this break. At the bottom of the garden there is a great lookout seat for watching the sea and waves reeling down the point.

  • This place really is paradise

    This place really is paradise. Peace & quiet with only the sound of individual waves, tui and piwakawaka. K9 loved it too.
