A farm building converted over 4 years with love and friendship into a warm and comfortable self-contained Eco-Cabin for your enjoyment. It has 2 bedrooms, a kitchen and indoor and outdoor living spaces, next to a bio-filtered swimming pool and food forests. You will be on a 50 hectare organic farm with hills of native forests (QE II covenant) and plantations. You can wander along tracks and bush walks with wide views from Mount Ruapehu and Taranaki to Kapiti and the South Island. Also close to beaches and Tararua Range entries.
We have a small working farm, to provide healthy food and water from a healthy and diverse environment. There are free ranging pigs, hens and ducks, extensive grazing of sheep and cattle, orchard trees, vegetable gardens and grain crops. There are lots of trees, for shelter and habitat, and sustainably coppiced woodlots for firewood, timber plantations and forest wilderness.
The cabin is part of a farm building, made of local natural materials, including timber, earth and stone, with earth floor and earth plaster wall finishing. On-site services of spring water, ‘waste’ re-use, compost and flush toilets, wood range, wind and solar power. All cotton sheets and towels, wool rugs, etc.

It was really interesting to spend time at a property focused on sustainability. Loved walking in the reserve land. Handy to Otaki and Levin. Sensible distance from Wellington for a weekend. Loved being around the animals - made lots of new friends. For some reason, we slept like logs - very relaxing. Enjoyed the breakfast goods supplied. Queen bed was very comfortable.
We loved the location. Away from city life, but close enough to get to nearby beaches and towns. The property was roomy, warm and beautiful. My children loved discovering all the recyled matter used to create such a home. I was a liitle dissapointed there wasnt a full sized oven to cook in, but we made do without. My children have decided that we need to come back every year!!
We had a wonderful stay. The beds were super comfy and the facilities were perfect for our family with two young children. We loved exploring the food forest and taking walks on the property. The basket of lovely organic breakfast treats was a nice touch. We will definitely be back.
