This was a perfect location for going to both Milford and Doubtful Sounds. The property was great for two couples. All the necessary conveniences were there and it is very clean. The wood stove is perfect for heating. Lovely stay!
A lovely home, well laid out, clean, with a wonderful wood stove that proved very useful for our cooler-than-seasonal stay. The kitchen was a delight ... well stocked and fun to use. The beds were comfortable, and although we only used the one bedroom there was enough room for another four people easily (total of 6). Dead quiet at night. Manapouri itself doesn't have much to offer ... Te Anau is more fun as a visitor. WiFi at the property would have pushed this to a 5 star review.
The Manapouri Retreat House is located in an attractive and quiet neighborhood. The house features a bright spacious kitchen and the floor plan is generously laid out with open-plan common area and contemporary furnishing featuring warm colors. The location affords an ideal base for an excursion on Doubtful Sound.
It was lovely staying in Manapouri. It is the perfect location. Arriving before Te Anau (from Queenstown) to this beautiful spot was a nice calm way to start the holiday. It was great to look around the little town, and head off to Milford Sound the next day. The house itself was well equipped and with the fire on, lovely and warm. It would be amazing to return, and to stay again.
