Bach or holiday home | Anakiwa | #18066
Step out the door and go for a walk, run or bike on the beautiful Queen Charlotte Track, or stroll down to the beach to swim or fish off the jetty, or just lounge in the private grassy backyard, surrounded by tui, keruru, bell birds and the occasional cheeky weka. You are surrounded on two sides by native bush, and have glorious views out across the Sound.
This is a classic rugged family bach. It is not luxurious . You can be free from TV here! It is very comfortable, and we've updated the things that matter: fabulous new Queen-size beds, lots of fridge space, a new filtered water system, and plenty of outdoor furniture. In winter the log fire keeps it warm and there is plenty of firewood.
A new cabin has been added behind the house. It has a queen bed, and a mezzanine suitable for two children.
Unbeatable location: road access and a short drive to Picton, 40 minutes to Marlborough's vineyard trails, close to the beach, yet very private, and right on one of the country's most beautiful walking tracks.
Special conditions: Smoking allowed outside only Dogs OK with prior approval (no cats please, because of the native birds)

This Bach was like being allowed to stay in a special big part of a families life . The position of the bach was not just unbelievable being the last house before the Queen Charlotte track but in it's beautiful ability to be a kiwi batch and to have had such incredible views changing every day from it's deck . We stayed for 6 nights and felt a real connection to this part of NZ at the end . Thanks Jan for sharing and highly recommend for a true kiwi experience. Ray and Rose Perth
The bach is exactly as it's described in the owner's description. It's a 'classic' kiwi bach, so you get what you've booked. The location is outstanding. It was well equipped with some good new modern additions. The new cabin is a great addition, nicely done and was clean and comfortable. The main bach itself was good enough, but additional attention to cleaning after other residents have stayed (as reflected by other comments) would be beneficial. On balance, a good place to stay.
We loved this place - rough edges an all - made it all the more relaxing. Great location next to the QC track and its beautiful bush, great view over the bay and lovely safe beach for our young ones. Well stocked kitchen and the shower is awesome. With several separate sleeping areas it would be great for several families. Would have given it 5 stars but it isn't as flash as that.
The location of the property is amazing. There is a wonderful view of the sounds, and great for doing some people watching for those walking the Queen Charlotte track. The bach itself is old but it is comfortable and has what's required for a great stay. My only comment is that the bach may benefit from a spring clean, as there are some dusty and cobweb patches.
Because we don't live in the house and the fact that it has native bush on two sides, it does tend to get a bit dusty. And spiders are a fact of life there! Whenever I am there I sweep them all away; they are back in within a day. I do try to keep them out but it is almost impossible.
