Kawau Island Hideaway at South Cove. A cosy wood-burner fire, BBQ and inside or outside dining all makes for a relaxing or romantic stay. Ridge-top modern new home with views of Auckland City, Rangitoto and Whangaparoa. Fish off the rocks or wharf, just a 10 minute walk away. Large deck and golf-cart transport from the wharf. Plenty of track walks, Mansion House is 1.5 hrs walk away...swimming, beach walks, bird watching, wallabies, wekas, peacocks,rosellas and even kiwis to see. Lots to explore and discover...and fish to catch!

A beautifully quiet place. No neighbours to be seen, great outlook, wonderful seaviews...you can almost feel you are the only one on the island...a totally relaxing place to be. Kawau Island is a unique place...if you haven't been before you are in for an experience....one of those very special places left in New Zealand, seemingly undiscovered!

(Children must be 10 years old or over to stay at this home)

Special conditions: A min. stay of 3 nights is required for Auckland Anniversary weekend and Waitangi weekend.. From Xmas until mid-Jan the min. stay is 5 nights. 50% deposit required to secure booking and balance 2 weeks prior to holiday commencing. $250.00 bond may be required depending on length of stay. No outside fires, apart from BBQ's (DOC regulation). All rubbish is to be taken back to Sandspit Council Refuse bins by the wharf. There are no facilities on the island for disposing of rubbish.

    The property has fantastic views and is a ten minute walk to the wharf. We were forced to relax and chill out because there is not much to do at South Cove . Perfect for reading your book or having a swim and fish. The house has everything we needed but could have been cleaner.

  • Positives: The location is magic

    Positives: The location is magic. House quite new, with stunning views. 3rd bedroom is quite inaccessible so only 4 adults (2 couples) could stay there comfortably. Very quiet and private. Fully equipped. Negatives: Wifi not available freely; (complicated system for connection at a hefty price. Hygiene (cleanliness) is not a priority in kitchen or bathrooms? Could only get 1 TV channel?

  • The location is handy on the island

    The location is handy on the island. Golf cart is provided. Be sure to bring a raincoat though for the walk to the golf cart from the wharf. South Cove was the first stop on the ferry (last on way back) which saves time. The house is lovely, modern and has an entertaining feel to it. Since there are no shops on Kawau it was very handy that the kitchen was well stocked if we needed it and got tired of our own food. There were plenty of magazines, books and DVDS to look at.
