Description

  • Beautiful views over surrounding peaceful valley
  • Quiet and private
  • 20 mins to fishing in Tuki Tuki and Waipawa Rivers, or to Gimblett Gravel/Ngatarawa Triangle wines

We have a tidy, comfortable cottage in a quiet, secluded, picturesque valley south of Hastings. It has a small, sunny patio area with outdoor table & chairs, and in summer there is a para pool, and a BBQ for you to use.

The kitchen is fully equipped, with a bench top oven, bench top hobs and a microwave. A continental breakfast is supplied, as is tea, coffee, sugar, salt & pepper, oil & flour etc. A simple evening meal can be requested when you book.

There is a separate bedroom with a queen bed, and a fold out double couch in the lounge. We have 2 kiddie sized, covered foam mattresses that can be put in the bedroom . Extra adult $10/child $5.

Cottage has fabulous views of rock outcrops, green paddocks and native trees. With the neighbours permission it is possible to walk to the rocks or to the top of the hill opposite our place.

We use organic principles to produce our fruit, olives and vegetables. We have beehives for honey and vines to make our own red wine. We are also experimenting with truffle inoculated oaks. You are welcome to participate with any beekeeping, winemaking, distilling or other activities happening during your stay.

We live 20 minutes south of Hastings, close to the famous Tuki Tuki and Waipawa trout fishing rivers. We can offer information on the superb local wineries, and Art Deco Napier is only 35 mins away. Other local attractions include: Cape Kidnappers gannet colony; Splash Planet; the National Aquarium; Arataki Honey House; Te Mata Peak; bushwalks for all fitness levels; Silky Oak Chocolate factory; superb golf courses including the world famous Cape Kidnappers; bike trails, and the winery bike trail … plus much more.

We have a gentle staffie called Poppy, 2 ducks - Petunia and Pansy, and 4 hens. We are pet friendly ... please keep in mind our poultry is free-range if you are visiting with a dog.

Please join us on your first evening to share a glass of wine or liqueur.

Special conditions: Smoking outside only. Pets allowed with prior approval. Price deals for longer stays. A non refundable deposit of one night's tariff for bookings 3 night and over between 01 December and 28 Feb.

Peaceful, and very pleasant surrounding. A little out of the way but worth the extra drive to be in the lovely country setting. My only negative comment would be that we found the drive up to the cottage a little steep and slippery and not sure how bad it would be in the wet weather. Overall we loved the place and will be back.
