Bach or holiday home | Lake Tarawera | #18667
On one of Tarawera's loveliest sites, this cosy bach offers comfort and absolute privacy amidst native bush and wonderful birdlife. The front deck has spectacular, elevated views to Mt. Tarawera and looks over arguably the best trophy trout lake in the world. Relax on the sun-drenched deck and enjoy the sound of tuis, bellbirds and the resident Morepork owl. Amble down the drive to the lake edge and sandy swimming beach.
The accommodation comprises of a bach (sleeps 5) and a charming barn (sleeps 4). The bach has an open plan living area with a log fireplace, a small but adequate kitchen with a new oven and hotplates and a bathroom. The large entertainer’s deck has a good Weber Q series gas BBQ and ample outdoor furniture. There is a charming outside bath overlooking the lake. The Barn has a main bedroom area and a bedroom-living area with expansive lake views.
The property offers easy access and ample parking for cars and boats. The driveway to the lake requires a 4WD and leads to a private jetty with a long-line mooring system and a concrete ramp to launch a reasonable sized boat. Take your runabout water skiing, for picnics at Hot Water Beach, trout fishing under the mountain or walks to the Tarawera Falls or over the track to Lake Rotomahana and Lake Okataina.
At Te Karamea you are only a 10 minute drive to the historical discoveries of the Buried Village, 15 minutes to water skiing and walks at the Blue and Green Lakes, 20 minutes to Lake Okareka, 25 minutes to the geothermal wonders of Rotorua, 35 minutes to Lake Rotoiti and a little over an hour to Lake Taupo, Karapiro, Hamilton and many more attractions.

Really hope we can continue visiting this beautiful spot for years to come.
Fabulous grounds and loads of parking , great if you have a boat. It was lovely being on the lake and being able to swim here, also handy for launching the boat. Stunning views
Nice place to stay, perfect location would recommend
Fabulous basic Kiwi bach for anyone who wants to escape for a relaxing break, surrounded by native bush, quails meandering through the garden, tuis singing in the trees, and a view to die for. Not for those who want the mod cons but everything you need is there. We just loved it! A compost bin on the section for fruit and vege scraps would be good....save on rubbish.
