Bach or holiday home | Waverley Beach | #18690
Nukuhau is situated half an hour over scenic roads from the main highway, on a high plateau overlooking our carbon farm and QEII reserve. The large house is basically but comfortably furnished with all you need for a retreat or holiday. In addition to beds we also have foam mattresses which can be used marae style on the living room floor.
The 500 acre farm consists of steep hills and valleys but is fully tracked and suitable for exploring on foot. At the bottom of the farm there is a small river with swimming holes. This property is the ideal place for a quiet retreat or as a base for outdoor activities. The views of Mt Taranaki and of the bush clad hill country are spectacular.
It is situated adjacent to two DOC reserves which can be accessed for tramping or hunting. Nearby are historic sites, viewpoints with commanding views from Mt Taranaki to Mt Ruapehu, and a local museum.
For wet weather we have games, books, DVDs, and a piano.

The property is big and has amazing views but the only (major) turn down for us was that it was not clean. There were cobwebs everywhere, dishes were not clean (dusty) , strong musty smell as if it hasn't been opened for sometime and felt bit creepy with kids and adults cloths hanging in the closet. Property wasn't maintained very well but if that's not major for you it's a great place to visit. We enjoyed the fire, the piano and breath taking views.
Thank you for your feedback, Priya. There are problems with maintaining a back country property, but I have taken your comments on board and will double check for cobwebs and dust. The clothes are there because we use the property but also warm jackets and gumboots are for the use of our guests. We keep our charges low because we cannot guarantee that we have been able to go up to service the property. However I will make sure all guests are aware of these things in future.
A wonderful, remote location with amazing views, large comfortable living space and outdoors area. Had a very relaxing time with great weather despite the season. No complaints whatsoever, though the gravel road on the final leg to get there might be a little daunting to an unprepared city dweller, it is a picturesque and not-overlong drive and all part of the remote country experience. We would love to stay again
