Cool rustic pad, interior not too precious, can knock it around a wee bit. Good for a group and with kids. Only thing I'd recommend is cleaning the wood burner flue - doesn't suck air very well. Cheers!
The Park Home Base is an interesting & unique property - our group enjoyed the rustic & eclectic charm of the interior - especially the lounge & dining areas. The property is a little run down in places but has a real cosy character that most will appreciate. There is a need to improve the shower operation & the bath did not function at all. While the kitchen was generally well appointed, there was no microwave & a secondary fridge would also be a good idea. The bedrooms were intimate & cosy - most commented that the mattresses were comfortable enough & there was plenty of warm bedding available. There is a leak above the inside access door from the laundry to the bathroom areas - we had a rainy week so this was quite noticeable. The fire was good once started but tended to lose heat quite quickly & needed a lot of restocking. The wifi was excellent & the TV much appreciated on wet days - the heat pump & heaters in the lounge area did a good job of keeping us warm. On the whole a pleas
Very good location. The first night, the hot water ran out. I had to boil water to bathe. The next day the hot water worked but was either scalding hot or luke warm. There is a leak in the roof in the laundry room. Insulation is poor - bubble wrap on all the windows. I knew the house was old when I booked, and the owner has tried to do what she can to make it hospitable, but I expected basic amenities to work. The fireplace does nothing to warm the house. Some of the electric sockets don't work.
The property was surprisingly larger than I thought. Really well equipped kitchen.Excellent wifi and really comfy couches. However the new diesel fire isn't fitted yet. There were a lot of electric heaters to use, but it took a while for the place to warm up. Drying racks by the fire would have been useful for drying gear after a day up the mountain.
