Description

  • The Harbour only meters from the front door. The channel at your doorstep, not miles of mud!!
  • Fishing and oysters to be enjoyed. Use the Kayak or dingy, bring your net and catch your dinner.
  • A true kiwi bach to be enjoyed by all !!!! Be sure to read the great feedback.

12 minutes drive from Opotiki and 25 minutes from Whakatane, a lovely peaceful and secluded area on the lovely Ohiwa harbour . Very safe for children. Full access to the harbour and channel from the front door. a very good boat ramp only 10 minutes away , leave your boat anchored in the chanel for an early start to the fishing out at sea. Great flounder fishing. Large area with ample parking for caravan.

The channel between the Bach and the island assures constant water and not hours of mud!!

Please note this holiday bach may not be suitable for some elderly

Dogs are welcome but must remain outdoors in consideration to the following Bach renters. Due to the harbour being so close and dogs loving the harbour the Bach would get very mucky in no time.

Also any messes left behind by the dog is the responsibility of the renter to remove. Thank you

Please remove any rubbish.

The bach will accomadate 4 or 5 comfortably. If you have more people please ask. I do limit the amount of people to typically no more than 8 if some are tenting.

''Dave, we can't thank you enough! Being able to enjoy your little slice of paradise is a privilege for sure. We had a great time and dined on fresh flounder and Oysters daily. This is a great little spot that was very hard to leave after three nights. We were lucky with the weather and that made it even more enjoyable. A big thanks to Ian as well, a very helpful and pleasant gentleman. Thanks again Dave, we will be back!! "

"Words just can't do this place justice so I'm not even going to try and describe it anymore. Give me the option of Hawaii, Rarotonga, California etc... or Ohiwa. I'd pick Ohiwa hands down any day. As a small child I dreamt of a place like this and when we stay here the feeling is just surreal. A huge thank you to Ian once again, your visits are always welcome and it's a pleasure chatting with you. This most recent stay was one of the best weeks of my life. Our whole family loved it. Cheers

  • We stayed over Easter 2017 the day after a cyclone had hit

We stayed over Easter 2017 the day after a cyclone had hit. We didn't have power for three days, but we made it work and we had a really great time. The bach is as described. It is basic, but it has everything you need. We have 9 and 10 year old daughters who didn't even notice when the power came back on. They played in the kayak and built huts and bridges, we toasted marshmellows outside in the evening and used the BBQ for all of our cooking. Fabulous stay. Highly recommend.

  • Fantastic bach with everything you need

Fantastic bach with everything you need. Perfect secluded location. Surfcasting from the front lawn. Will be back one day with heavier tackle to try land the monster kingfish that cruise the channel. Caught a feed of snapper and trevally each day. Didnt even need to use the set net. Fireplace indoor/outdoor was a bonus. Loved every moment here!!! A+++++

  • With Cyclone Cook coming ashore on the other side of the harbour...

With Cyclone Cook coming ashore on the other side of the harbour from this bach, we contacted the owner who very kindly has made us an offer for an alternative stay, which we weren't expecting but gladly accepted. Looking forward to checking this quaint wee bach a little later in the year.

  • Bach was as advertised

Bach was as advertised... a GREAT KIWI BACH. The location was awesome, nothing like being on the water away from the madding crowd. We enjoyed our stay and would do it again and would recommend the bach to anyone wanting to get away...!
