Bach or holiday home | Clarks Beach (NZ) | #19485
Looking for a peaceful waterside retreat for a few days from the hustle and bustle? You’ve found it! This is Auckland’s best-kept secret, the tranquil beachside area of Clarks Beach and Waiau Pa, only 45 minutes’ drive south from Auckland’s CBD, with the Waiuku River estuary lapping at your door. The serenity is amazing - you'll not want to leave!
•You want to get away from Auckland for the weekend but not drive for hours in crazy traffic?.
•Or you need a ‘chill-out’ spot – a ‘do-nothing’ weekend (or week) all by yourself
•Maybe you’re like me, a writer, and you hanker for calm and serenity. It's my home so you’ll find many homely touches, including kids' toys and books. I'm away a lot so my lovely haven is often available. (Plenty of room for your clothes and food though.)
It’s all set up for you to be either creative or just to blob out and read, snooze, play – or enjoy the delights of the region.
If you want activity, explore Clevedon’s country market, the hikes in the Hunua Ranges, play golf at the very popular Clarks Beach course, get out on the water if you’ve got your own boat …. the choices are many.
The self-contained flat with private access, occupied by a very quiet long-term tenant, adjoins the family home which you're reading about.
The kitchen is fully equipped. Dry goods supplied - just replace what you’ve used. Think of it as a high-class motel with all the conveniences of home.
If you want to cook (but why would you with Chinwags round the corner?) there’s a well-stocked kitchen.
Books galore for use while there. Music – heaps of CD's or bring your IPod and plug into the Bose player.
Amazing sunsets, wader birds (even rare Royal Spoonbills occasionally), fishing boats heading down the Waiuku River channel, and hardly any people!
Bring your fishing boat and lines. Launch your boat from the ramp beside your driveway or a 24-hour ramp is 2 minutes’ drive away.
A cot and high chair are available and also an inflated double mattress. You'll have to watch kids at high tide - there is no fence by the sea wall but the roll-down blinds on the deck can contain little ones if you're busy.
You're welcome to use my food, books and music. I just respectfully request that you replace supplies and leave the books and music when you depart.
Extras: Cleaning (Required, NZ$75.00 per stay)
If you don't need the whole house, or you want to stay just one night, and you're happy to share with me (if I'm home), two bedrooms at a very competitive rate are available through another rental agency (I'll probably get blocked if I say the name but it starts with Air.... ). Look for the same cover photo to find my listing.

What a beautiful setting, and a warm, gracious and relaxing home. Loved the little extra features to be found when it's someone's home - books, music, art. Sitting on the deck and enjoying the sunset is the icing on the cake, and even wild windy wet days are enjoyable, with the tide hitting the seawall.
