  • Wilson Bay walking and mountain bike tracks at each end of the beach
  • A quiet bush environment with an impressive resident tui and bellbird population

We offer a modern studio unit on the ground floor level of our home with all the modcons yet with a feeling of a home away from home. We live on a property where we are returning the environment back to native New Zealand bush, but we also enjoy a garden profuse with flowers and edible plants and fruit in summer. Make use of our large garden and the paths leading to private quiet areas, read a book on a comfortable lounger, eat your meals outside on the table and chairs or wander around watching and listening to the birds. Great opportunities to photograph tuis, bellbirds, waxeyes, kereru; wood pigeons, and occasionally the reclusive NZ falcon. Our ever growing populations of tuis and bellbirds are a constant delight and they will serenade you with their famous birdsong all year round. Wilson Bay is hugely popular in summer for water sports, and all year round for the Wilson Bay walking tracks and mountain biking tracks. Try your luck fishing in the bay or at one of the many hotspots nearby. We also live in close proximity to many other walking, hiking, and mountain biking tracks. Grant is a hiker, mountain biker, hunter, fisherman, was a commercial paua diver for 23 years, and will be happy to advise you on all the places to explore during your stay. His floor to ceiling topographical map has been well used! Monica is an avid gardener, artist and manages Southern Lakes Info Centre and will be happy to assist you in any action activities you may wish to try during your stay in New Zealand's adventure capital. We share a private driveway with our neighbours and offer off road parking. FREE WIFI, FreeView TV, use of DVDs and our book library. We have a friendly dog and a cat who thinks he is a dog. If you aren't keen on animals we are happy to keep them away from you. Cell coverage can sometimes be a bit patchy depending on your cell plan and the weather and we are happy for you to use our phone if needed. What'sapp, Skype, Viber all work as an alternative.

Special conditions: Smoking is allowed outside only. Pets may be allowed with prior approval, although no pets are allowed on any furniture or beds. Our private driveway is shared by 2 other users, so care needs to be taken with young children. No shoes inside please :-)

  • We had a great time staying here over four days

We had a great time staying here over four days. We really enjoyed waking up to the birds singing and being able to walk down to the lake at night to see the stars showering on us. Short drive to queenstown and just a walk down the driveway to the majestic lake. Definitely coming back! :)

Tui house was very well located, just far enough outside Queenstown to be out of the hustle and bustle, but close enough to go into town for dinner or cocktails. It was really nice waking up to the native bird song in the morning. The apartment is very clean and comfortable, with nice touches like a library and a DVD collection. The bed was almost too comfortable, we may have over slept a bit one morning, it was so comfortable. We'll definitely stay here next time we come down.

  • Property is small but well equipped

Property is small but well equipped. Setting is perfect. Just a few steps down to Wilson's Bay and a 10 minute journey into Queenstown.

Tui House is located only 15 minutes drive from the busy tourist hub of Queenstown. The house is surrounded by bush and native birds were to be seen everywhere. We would recommend it as it is close to the activities and eateries of Queenstown with the lake a few minutes walk away.
