Bach or holiday home | Lake Brunner | #20097
A wonderfully remote cottage nestled between Lake Brunner, ancient west coast rain forest and towering mountains.
Mitchells is located on the southern shores of Lake Brunner on the West Coast of the South Island, New Zealand. This delightful self-contained cottage is situated in the grounds of Lake Brunner Lodge. It is only 217km drive from Christchurch and 40 minutes from Greymouth. A great place to get away for the weekend with your family or friends with plenty of things to do. Bring the boat or kayaks and explore the lake and catch a fish or water-ski.
Dining is available in nearby Kumara, Jacksons and Moana - all are an easy drive from the cottage.
At the Cottage we generate our own electricity by means of a small Hydro system located at the rear of the property. The system was installed and has remained operational since the 1930’s.

The house could be comfortable, but it needs to be looked after. We had a bad leak from the rain dripping from ceiling, and the light fixture in the kitchen area collapsed. The other one in the dining area wasn't working from the beginning. The owners' friends nextdoor did their best, but it really wasn't enough.
It was unfortunate timing -“the leak from heavy rain”. You were offered to stay in Lake Brunner Lodge and you accepted a bottle of wine as a way of saying “sorry” so not sure what else could have been done at that time. Sorry I was not onsite but I would have done the same as Rob & Laurie.
We spent a very relaxing two days over new year. A lovely outlook over the edge of the lake. Great walk along the lake edge and up to the waterfall. Had drinks and a meal next door at the lodge which had a very relaxed and warm atmosphere. Thanks very much Lee-Ann.
