I wouldn't say that it was 'walking distance' to anywhere in Ohakune, definitely not in the winter and with children. It wasn't particularly clean, but was adequate for a short stay. The wonderful gas fire kept the whole house cozy and warm, and the drying room was well used during our stay.
Location is not bad. It would be quite a long walk to the Junction though. When paying good money would expect more basics to be provided, e.g. soap for handwashing, salt and pepper, gladwrap for packed lunches. Good fire. Hard to shut front door, had to get help to figure that out.
