This is the original Naylor House homestead which was built in the 1870's of local schist stone and has been lovingly renovated by the great grand-daughter of its original builder and owner, Jonas Naylor. Naylor House is part of the Northern Southland Heritage

Trout fishermen will love the opportunity to fish in Mataura River, the river with the reputation for New Zealand's best trout fishing.

We can arrange guided fly fishing trips with the best fishing guide in the South Island, Stu Tripney. His world famous fishing shop (Stu's Fly Shop) is only 10 mins away from Naylor House and the hotspot for any angler.

Nature lovers will be able to tramp through acres of local countryside and take in the awe inspiring majesty of the nearby mountains.

    We really enjoyed staying at the Naylor House. The stone cottage exceed our expectation, extremely clean, full of character and perfect location for me going fishing! but also for my wife and son going push-biking on the new trail.
