Bach or holiday home | Collingwood | #21672
Beach End is a peaceful sunny beach front holiday cottage privately set amongst native bush with beautiful sea views and plenty of bird life. Beach End is a ten minute walk to Collingwood village with cafes, a pub, and Farewell Spit Safari Tours. It is a real bach. The kitchen and lounge are open plan with french doors opening out to a deck and private garden. There is an outside dining table on the deck a stones throw from the sea. There are curtains separating the double bedroom from the lounge and the second bedroom has a loft bed and two single beds. The bathroom has a shower and toilet and sink. There is a very warm cozy fire for winter evenings.
Beach End has a wild, untamed garden and a lovely deck for resting on. It is located a short walk from Collingwood township with cafes and a pub and supermarket. It is a ten minute drive to the famous cafe/pub The Mussel Inn where there is locally brewed beer and live music. It is a half hour from Takaka where there is a movie theatre, medical centre, library, market, local produce, and art galleries and shops.
The beach is tidal and at low tide you can collect cockles in the channels. You can walk along the beach towards Milnthorpe Park and explore the trails there or walk to Collingwood and have a coffee and breakfast at the Courthouse Cafe, fish and chips or an evening meal or pizza. There are kayaks to rent in Collingwood. The Safari Tour leaves from Collingwood for tours of Farewell Spit and the Gannet Colony. Walk to the historic cemetery or drive up the valley and have tea and scones at the Historic Langford Store and walk amongst old gold relics along the way.
The best thing to do at Beach End is to open the french doors and sit and watch the tide come in slowly over the sand flats, watch the moon rise out of the sea, or see the sunrise.
The deck has a seat railing and is not suitable for very young children. There is a short 50m. walk down the road to an easy pathway to the beach. The car park is down a short path. The bach is most suitable for couples and families. The third bed in the children's bedroom is up a loft ladder and may not suit some people.

Incredible location, amazing bach! Beautiful bach hidden in the bush with breathtaking panoramic view on sea from the deck, the living room and bedrooms. Cosy in winter with the wood stove, good selection of music and all comfort! Clam picking on the beach was a treat for the children. We would definitely come back if we weren't leaving New Zealand.
This place was really private and peaceful. The outlook over Golden Bay was great-the sunrises and moonrises were a bonus. It was also fantastic to watch the tide come in and out over the flats from the deck or the picture window and to be able to hear the waves lapping at full tide. This a great central location for visiting either south to Takaka or north to Farewell Spit area. The facilities are adequate-after all it is an old bach but is remarkably warm and cosy and the fire is amazing.
