Wairoro Part is a unique holiday experience with absolute private beachfront, native bush walks through Kiwi habitat, on a 64 acre coastal estate near Russell Bay of Islands. At Wairoro Park you'll enjoy luxurious holiday home accommodation at an affordable rate, in a peaceful and tranquil location. Thanks to our extensive grounds and the fact that we own the beach dogs are allowed off leash provided they are under their owners control and in their sight. Take a step back in time to 1970 for a real New Zealand holiday atmosphere and relaxed hospitality.

We have a large sloping lawn and flat grassed area above the beach for families to play and relax. On the beachfront there are a number of sun loungers and beach chairs. We have kayaks, a dingy, 1.5 tonne mooring, lifejackets, table tennis, books and games available for guest use.

The Russell to Okiato walk crosses the rear of the property running through regenerating Kiwi habitat. Wairoro Park has placed Approximately 1/3 of the property into QE2 trust, to protect this valuable habitat for perpetuity. Around the Chalet you may be lucky enough to hear Kiwi night and see Weka during the day.

The accommodation: Our Klassic chalet offers bush, garden and more distant sea views. There is one double bedroom with a king sized bed. In the lounge/kitchen there is a fold out sofa suitable for a child. There is a small fully kitchen, with microwave, grill and ceramic stove open plan kitchen, lounge and dining area. A en suite bathroom with shower, toilet and small vanity. There is a covered deck with a BBQ and two deck chairs. We supply towels and linen.

Wairoro Park has been owned by the Boerop family since 1971, with Beryl now retired and living on the property and happy to answer and questions.

We are able to accommodate larger groups by arrangement.

Special conditions: You are welcome to bring your dog. Your dog must be safe with children and other pets. Your dog needs to be kept in your sight and control at all times. You must clean up after you dog and not allow them to foul the beach or grounds.

Lovely 1970ies A frame which reminded me of a batch we had in the Coromandel many years ago. Great to be able to bring our two small dogs. Nice to see weka & pheasents etc. Lovely Tui morning chorus to wake up to. Very private accommodation & hidden little bay with beautiful views across the water to Paihia. Easy drive to Russell. A very romantic spot. We love this place!!!

  • A wonderful, relaxing stay

A wonderful, relaxing stay. The Cowshed was very comfortable and warm. Very friendly people on site. We have certainly found a gem to get away and enjoy a private oasis which is dog friendly. We will definitely be back! Loved it !

Lovely little bach on a nice property. Very close to car ferry. Animal friendly, so lots of dog around to pet at the time we stayed.

  • This has to be the most dog friendly place in NZ

This has to be the most dog friendly place in NZ. The beach is on the doorstep, there's shade and seats and room for all. The smaller chalets are well equipped and comfortable and perfect for a couple. Close to the Opua ferry and only a few minutes drive from Russell and a couple of well-worth a-visit-wineries.
