Description

  • Great for families - safe swimming beach and popular playground just across the road.
  • Panoramic views of bay afford superb sunsets. Great walking tracks up Mt Manaia and Mt Aubrey.
  • Fishing off the nearby jetty, perfect windsurfing spot, nearby golf and tennis

This is a comfortable, tastefully furnished kiwi bach with polished Rimu floors throughout.

Sit on the deck and watch the world go by and toast the spectacular sunsets at the end of an action packed day.

Enjoy sea views from the front deck or relax by the stream in the tranquil back garden. The detached sleepout and reading room out back can be a welcome retreat as well.

From every room enjoy splendid views of Mt Manaia and Mt Aubrey towering majestically over historic McLeod Bay. Both provide challenging walking opportunities, but there are plenty of easier walks in the area too.

This is a great spot for families as there is a safe swimming beach and a popular playground on your doorstep. The shallow creek and back garden will also keep children (supervised!) entertained for hours.

A ten minute drive will take you to spectacular Ocean Beach which is a renowned surfing destination in the area where dolphins can often be sighted.

It is a great base for fishing as you can beach-launch the boat across the road and Marsden Cove Marina is only a short burst across the bay for refuelling, and the Hen and Chickens is within easy reach. Or just bring your fishing rod and drop a line off the jetty at the end of the bay. We also have our own mooring in the bay which is available for guests' use.

In this long established settlement you will find the oldest church in New Zealand still on its original site , and further up the road is one of the oldest schools which now serves as a very picturesque community library.

A short walk at low tide will take you to the fascinating pioneer cemetery where some of the original Scottish immigrants are buried beneath the cypress, whilst a 10 minute walk in the other direction will take you to 'The Deck' for your morning coffee and other essentials - or lunch or dinner.

There is a substantial DVD collection which you are welcome to browse and an extensive library and board games should you strike a wet day!

Special conditions: There is a shallow stream running through the property which is fairly shallow in normal conditions but toddlers should be closely watched especially in the event of torrential rain which can make the level rise.

  • What a beautiful spot

What a beautiful spot. I have never been to this part of our lovely country but will be back. The water is a stones throw and the outlook from the house very peaceful. The house is tastefully decorated, clean very well equipped.

Magnificently placed bach with the water nearly at your doorstep. The sunrise and sunsets watched from the deck were spectacular. The bach was well laid out and beautifully maintained. Thanks so much for sharing it with our family.
