Bach or holiday home | Surfdale | #24837
This clean bach is simple & clutter free - just what you need for relaxation. There's great natural light and an open-plan design.
Sleeps MAXIMUM 4 people (due to septic tank max. capability)
There are 3 separate bedding options:
* 1 queen-sized bed / * 1 average fold-down double bed / *1 single floor mattress
* Linen is provided (however, please bring your own beach towel)
* There's a dishwasher, washing machine and a sun-filled deck with outdoor furniture (tables, chairs).
* There are games (Scrabble, cards, Trivial pursuit, boules), books and magazines for your enjoyment.
On Waiheke, rainwater is stored in tanks and wastewater (bathroom/toilet) is treated on the property (septic tank). Islanders are very eco-conscious with resources, and it will be helpful and respectful if you are, too.
This bach is in an excellent easily accessed part of Surfdale. Across the road there's a beach (with the best sunsets). 5 minutes walk down the road and you're at the Irish pub, the dairy, the vege supermarket, an Italian pizzeria, bakeries and a French patesserie. There's also the local bowling (lawn bowls) club to get in with the locals as well as enjoy cheap eats, too (try the Sunday roast). You don't really have to go far (or spend money to get there) to find some 'action'.
Walk just a little further and you can visit a couple of vineyards (Kennedy Point, Goldie) with beautiful grounds, award-winning wines for tasting, and eating onsite.
This bach is great for it's only a 1 minute, flat walk to bus stops (both directions). Buses run on the hour. There's also plenty of parking/turnaraound space for your car.
The whole bach is yours to use and the usual kitchen appliances include a toastie sandwich maker (!) and any everyday food items on hand (coffee tea, sugar, oil, vinegar, seasonings).

Bach is as the photos describe, nothing flash but gets the job done. You are in one big room with separate toilet and shower. I would recommend bringing bug spray/repellant as we got eaten alive at night even with the windows and doors closed! Also, the futon/couch bed is not great to sleep on, so would sleep on the bed or single mattress if possible! Easy access to the bus to town.
A cost effective but quite small bach. It's basically one small room, with kitchenette (no oven) and saggy futon for the couch sitting area. Would advise friends to spend a little extra cash for something a bit nicer. No smoke alarms, no screened windows- was hot but had to keep doors closed as tons of mozzies. No extraction- windows very condensed. Dirty, greasy, rusty old fan to circulate air. Old pots/pans- one already dirty. Boggy grass, shoes left sopping walking to bus stop.
The listing is as it is pictured - no window screens, a kitchenette, small 'room' (a studio). Nature is here, too: rain & mozzies. Got coils, candles and insect spray onsite (I travel w/ repellent, myself). Yes, I mix up the modern with the 'still able to use - not throw away' items (the greenie quirky in me) - the slouchy couch, old fan, odd pots/pans (I'll tell cleaner to check pots guests return to drawers - thanks) but all do their job just fine. It's a simple bach. That's all.
There is no longer beach access at the end of the lane opposite this batch (trespass sign has been erected) which makes it quite a bit further to the beach. The batch was fine, though very basic, and several glitches such as doors being very difficult to close and Windows too ... This is probably already reflected in the price though.
