Farmstay | Mahia Beach | #24941
Whiorau Farmstay is located on State Highway 2 between Nuhaka and Morere. We are just 3kms from Morere Hot Pools and Bush Walks. There are local caves to be explored. A 15 minute drive will get you to Mahia and Mahunga beaches, great for families as they are safe. There are also some great surf breaks. Gisborne is just 50 minutes away and its an hour and a half to the beautiful Lake Waikaremoana.
We are a 815ha working sheep and beef farm so there is always something going on. We also breed horses. Great place for families as we have a sandpit and plenty of toys, so Mum and Dad can watch and relax. If you are small enough there is Winnie the miniature pony to ride, or have a cuddle with Gertrude the goat. Feed the chickens and pat the pet lamb.
Sit back and relax with a book and literally smell the roses.
The farm is there to be explored, so bring your bike or your horse and head off for an adventure. Pets are welcome by arrangement.

We had a fabulous time at Whiorau, nothing was too much for Jo, and Hilton provided us with a great view of the farm. The accomodation was top notch, the welcome was warm and inviting. Highly, highly recommended. We hope to be back soon :-).
We loved the property! It felt like luxurious camping with the cabin style rooms in a beautiful garden amongst farm animals, everything we needed was there, lovely beds with beautiful linen, kitchen fully equipped, great outdoor setting. Not sure what it is like to stay during a cold / rainy period, as living room may be a bit small but we were able to be outside all the time and it was simply perfect for us (two families with 5 young kids). We are looking forward to come back again :-)
What a lovely, considerate and friendly family and far stay accomodation. Everything we needed, great central location for the beach, hot pools and close enough to Gisborne for a day trip or Lake Waikaremoana. Couldn't fault it - beautifully comfortable beds and lovely linen. Highly recommended. Our children had a ball.
nice rustic location and farm environment. The bedrooms had lots of character and knick-knacks - interesting. The kitchen/dining/lounge areas were very small but did the job ok - there are plans/ideas of expanding. Our stay was very short so unfortunately we didn't have a chance to explore the farm, which would have been fun.
We had a fantastic time at Whiorau. Jo and Hilton went out of their way to make us welcome and make our stay special: the animals, especially the pigs and Stanley the fawn; the evening at the hot pools; the trip in the ute to the back of the farm; and of course the sheep-shearing. Even Jack the dog came home all mellowed out. Thanks so much
