Cottage | Waikato District | #25730
Located only 90 minutes from Auckland this is a cosy studio cottage located on a
working farm so there is lots to see and experience whether you choose to stay put
or get out and explore.
On the property:
There are three QEII Reserves, which are available to explore at your leisure.
The opportunity to walk through valleys with fascinating limestone rock
formations and the natural beauty surrounding you is quite breathtaking and it is well worth it.
The wild life includes goats, turkeys, peacocks, hares and birdlife.
You may get to see aspects of the farm in action if we happen to be moving the animals
or could be able to share experiences with you. Please email directly with questions around this
if you are after some farm time.
Or you could just relax on the deck and soak up the view and
peaceful surroundings that this unique part of New Zealand offers.
Definitely a great opportunity to detox and recharge your batteries!
Or if you do want to get out and explore the area a bit more:
The Tasman Sea is a few miles to the West as the crow flies, so you could drive to Port Waikato and enjoy the beach or
head south only 20 minutes and explore the near by Nikau Caves and have a coffee fix at their cafe
Not far is also the Waingaro Hot Springs and several country pubs such as the Rangiriri Hotel.
Mercer is back on SH1 where there is Mercer Cheese which is worth a look and other amenities.
Down SH1 a bit further there is also the Greenstone Museum and shop at Te Kauwhata which is worth checking out.
This property is definitely for those looking to unwind. Bring everything you need with you as the nearest supermarket is 40mins away at Tuakau / Pukekohe.
Cellphone coverage is limited for Vodafone customers so this really is your chance to get away from it all.
Special conditions: Couple or single person preferred due to the size of the cottage. No pets allowed as this is a working farm. Smoking allowed outside only. Must respect that you are on a Farm and close all farm gates that you open.

The cottage was exactly as described. We were looking for an opportunity to unplug and enjoy the natural beauty of New Zealand- which is exactly what we found. For Americans- the trek to the cottage was a little unnerving due to the driving on the left side of the road and the gravel road- but Nona's directions were very accurate and we arrived safe and sound. We spent the majority of our time exploring the ranch, hanging out with the cattle and sheep and soaking in the beauty.
Kaike Cottage is a panacea for the soul. The setting is magnificent, peaceful and humming with life. The perfect choice for a retreat and a joy to explore during the day and rest during the evening when the stars come out. The cottage itself is perfectly equipped to meet all your needs and I would love to come back one day. Thanks Nona!
