Description

  • Absolute beach front:step out onto the dunes
  • Quiet North Piha location
  • Large flat section

This traditional family beach house offers a perfect location as a base for exploring Piha. Situated at the quieter north end of the spectacular black sand beach it is suitable for families on holiday, small groups taking time-out from the city, or those seeking to recharge their batteries in a magnificent setting. Weary trampers on the Hillary trail might also appreciate stopping for a night, or two, for home comforts, rest and recreation.

The bach has been a family holiday home for many years and is still used by the family. In addition to the expected facilities it also has an

extra outside shower and toilet and a garage housing a table tennis

table. A wrap around deck faces the sea, the sunsets and - to

one side - Monkey Rock, a miniature version of Lion Rock.

Small children will need supervision outside as the steps and the side deck to the bach have no rails (see photos), nor is the section fully fenced.

There are a number of walking tracks in the Piha area, some easy, like the 30 minute walk up to the spectacular Kite Kite falls in Glen Esk Valley. Others, more demanding, take a few hours. A good easy walking track at the north end of the beach leads up to a look-out atop North Head with stunning views up and down the rugged coast. Tracks also lead down to White's Beach, and a circular walk back to the bach can be made by following White's track up to the Anawhata road and then the Rose track along the ridge behind the bach down to 'the Glade' and back to the beach. The Glade's stream and pools offer a sheltered spot for children to play on hot summer days. In summer the beach is patrolled by life guards from the United North Piha Surf Lifesaving Club (please only swim between the flags!).

For those wanting to relax and not be bothered with cooking, the Piha

Cafe, the Piha Store, the R.S.A., the Bowling Club, and the South Piha Surf Club all provide meals.

Special conditions: Smoking allowed outside only Deck not suitable for small children Sorry, no pets No loud parties

  • Lovely sunny easy care traditional bach tucked in behind monkey rock

Lovely sunny easy care traditional bach tucked in behind monkey rock. Quiet location, out the door over the sand dune and onto the beach. Just perfect. Some might find the shower challenging/ too tuneful but if you are not fussed about having just a quick wash it is fine. Take your own speaker if you want to listen to music the one provided is very old and no aux outlet. Felt so relaxed at this bach thanks Sue for making it available for others.

We loved the property and the location was superb. This is a gorgeous beach for walking and exploring. The house was well equipped..maybe bring some mossie repellent as they were quite vicious after dusk.

  • The bach is a real classic - perfect for a beach break

The bach is a real classic - perfect for a beach break. Clean, tidy, good instructions and tips. The location is excellent and super close to Barnett Hall and the walking tracks. Loved the wild and rugged back drop of Piha beach and would definitely recommend this spot to others.
