Glenorchy…….is breathtaking

Possibly New Zealand’s most scenic village, Glenorchy is situated at the top of Lake Wakatipu, surrounded by snow-capped mountains, glacial rivers and alpine meadows.

One of the world’s great drives takes you 40 minutes from Queenstown along the lakeshore, to this picturesque township.

Glenorchy is a base for great adventures, or simply a destination to breathe in unforgettable scenery, and pure mountain air.

The township is quiet and charming and boasts a great café, an iconic pub with a restaurant, a general store, an information centre, and friendly locals.

Queenstown is terrific, but when the crowds start to wear thin and you want some time with your family, friends and nature………Glenorchy is the destination.

Things to Do

Walking & Hiking: A few of the most scenic walking tracks in the world are right on Glenorchy’s doorstep. Glenorchy is ground zero for the Routeburn, Rees, Greenstone-Caples & Dart River Tracks.

½ day, full day and multi-day walks all abound, and details and recommendations can be found at the Glenorchy Info Centre.

Jetboating: NZ’s most spectacular jetboat adventure starts and finishes in Glenorchy. The Dart River Jetboat is a must.

Horse riding adventure.

Fantastic fishing for fly fish enthusiasts and families alike.

Kayaking Tours

Skiiing - the closest ski area is Coronet Peak in Queenstown and would take just over an hour to get there

Even a Skate Bowl......and so much more

The only one issue was that the pressure for the shower was poor and there appeared to be a problem. However, we informed the property manager and hopefully this will be sorted.

  • The house is lovely however the septic tank is a major issue

The house is lovely however the septic tank is a major issue. Even with 3 occupants and keeping our water usage minimal, the septic tank alarm kept us awake at night. Additional Later Comment: I've been assured the problem has been resolved, so providing that is so, would happily recommend this property and it's owners.
