Martinborough's world famous vineyards are all around us. Just next door is Olivo; you can hop over the fence and taste some of their fabulous olive oil. The Martinborough Golf Course is a leisurely stroll down the road, and Martinborough Square, with its bustling shops, cafés and restaurants is an easy 3 km walk or cycle along country roads.

The General Store has been renovated with your comfort in mind. Fully insulated and beautifully appointed, a world away from city stress you can cocoon yourself in peace and warmth, luxuriate in the clawfoot bath or simply relax by the woodburner with a good book.

Take time out from cooking and eat at one of Martinborough's many restaurant's and cafe's. We love Cool Change and Micro Bar for their great food, wines and craft beer's. A BBQ is provided for casual dining at home.

Relocated from Eastbourne and tastefully renovated and refurbished, our elegant two bedroom cottage, 3 km from Martinborough Square, is nestled between vineyards and our own olive grove.

  • Gorgeous location

Gorgeous location. However the property itself is very tired and lacks a few expected comforts. It isn’t as well presented as the website indicates.

  • A wonderfully cute and cosy cottage

A wonderfully cute and cosy cottage. It was very well presented, clean and good amenities. Plenty of linen and kitchen supplies. The fire was delightful and there was plenty of wood (although some was a little wet). The location - about 5 mins out of Martinborough was fantastic - very close to wineries.

  • The property was just what we were hoping for

The property was just what we were hoping for. It is a quaint, picturesque bach that was perfect for our needs. The birds that visit in the morning and evening were a delight to see and the sound of the sheep was a joy to wake up to. Our daughter enjoyed the clawfoot bath and the beds were comfortable. It could do with a big spring clean and a place to store rubbish would be helpful on a long stay. The General Store is a beautiful place to stay and we highly recommend it.

The location and setting was fine and we enjoyed our stay but felt the finishing touches were missing. For instance there was no milk, or soap, the dishwasher hadn't been emptied which was where we eventually found the bread knife. The firebox could have done with a poker and the lighter was out of gas. There was no handy little outline of how the place worked and the lawn badly needed mowing.

Fabulous place! Great location within walking distance to some wineries and quick drive or relatively easy walk into town. Wonderful house with everything you could need - especially loved the porch and surrounding olive orchard. My family and I had an amazing, relaxing stay. We'll definitely be back again! Highly recommended.
