  • Great spot, we enjoyed our evening in the chalet

Great spot, we enjoyed our evening in the chalet. Very close to Ohakune town centre. Bathroom and kitchen were great. While it wasn't a problem for us, if privacy is important, others may wish to know that in order to get to one of the bedrooms you must pass through the other. Look forward to hopefully visiting again in winter to ski Ohakune!

  • Overall it served our purpose being close to town and tidy

Overall it served our purpose being close to town and tidy . Could do with a bit of R&M on the front steps and the letter box lying on the ground but no biggie. A little surprised the rate had lowered a week after we booked.

    Owner/manager responds:

Hi Geoff, thanks for the feedback - we were stoked to have you as our cleaner said you left the place very tidy. The place is getting a huge new deck ahead of winter so we hope you'll stay again to enjoy bbqs and mountain views :-) To clarify regarding the rate change - we've lowered our nightly rate and added a $35 per-stay cleaning fee. You actually got it cheaper under the old rate since your stay was short.

  • Cleaning and wood pellets were ostensibly provided

Cleaning and wood pellets were ostensibly provided. However, after leaving some minor food scraps on the floor and counter, as we were in a hurry that morning, and having made use of the provided pellets, we were charged an extra fee. The fee, we were told, was to cover extra cleaning. It is hard to imagine how more than an hours cleaning was required to sweep up a few food scraps that we had hastily left lying. Be prepared to clean before you leave, or pay more than expected.

    Owner/manager responds:

This is retaliatory feedback after the guest was charged $15 in additional cleaning and given negative feedback. He left the kitchen bench, dining table and floor covered in food (our cleaner had to hand scrub the kitchen floor), the stove top had burnt food all over it and no attempt was made to clean this. We provide professional cleaning with every stay and simply ask that guests leave the house tidy. If this is your idea of tidy we politely request you look elsewhere for accommodation.
