Bach or holiday home | Rotorua Township | #26590
Our cozy three-bedroom house is nestled down a right of way on a tree-lined street in the heart of Rotorua.
There is easy access onto the unique Arikipakapaka Golf Course. A quick bike ride away is the famous Redwoods Forest with its multitude of walking and biking trails. Another quick bike ride in the other direction is the Waipa Mountain Bike Park.
Danish Blue is designed to be a home-away-from-home. The house is an original Lockwood and it "talks" to you a little, as do most wooden houses - creaks and groans as the wood expands and contracts. It is an endearing characteristic of Lockwoods along with their warm wooden interiors.
The kitchen is well stocked with modern conveniences and basic foodstuffs. If I'm in town I try to have a loaf of fresh bread baking when you arrive. Top quality linen and towels are all provided. The bookcase is full of books and there is a good supply of board games for wet weather.
There's even a WII (with games) plus a good number of DVDs for kids and adults. We have the basic Sky package on the lounge TV but if you particularly want to have all the Sky movie channels available, or the sports channels, I can have them put on for an extra payment of $25 .
The ducted gas heater keeps the house lovely and warm in winter and there is plenty of cross ventilation and fans provided in summer (for the rare occasions that it's extra hot).
There are beds for six people - four singles and one queen; plus an extra rollaway bed. The third bedroom is off the garage and has a ranch slider opening onto a small deck in the back yard.
Two bathrooms - one with a bath/shower combination and a vanity and the other with shower and vanity. The separate toilet is between the two bathrooms.
The attached single garage with automatic door is a secure place to store your golf clubs and/or mountain bikes. There is also safe off-street parking for two cars.
The back yard is home to a gas barbecue and is private and secure.
Special conditions: Our house is in a quiet little enclave with lovely neighbours and we ask that our guests be considerate of those neighbours; i.e. no loud parties or noise after 10 p.m. Smoking outside only please. Using the cleaning service is optional but if you opt to do your own cleaning, it means leaving the house as you found it except for washing the sheets and pillowcases which I will do. I do expect the beds to be re-made with fresh sheets. (These are provided of course).
Quiet and private, this bedroom is slightly separate (off the garage) - great for someone wanting peace and quiet. Has its own entrance onto a little deck in the back garden.

It is a Lockwood so be prepared for the creaks and groans of the timber but this was more than compensated by the facilities which were 1st class, great wifi. The house was in a very quiet neighbourhood and handy to Rotorua. We were a family of 5 adults and one 4 year old, no problems.
The property is wonderful and we felt at home from the moment we arrived. Location is very convenient for the trails in the forest for Southstar shuttles, taking around 10mins to ride to. Taxi required for town but at around $12 it was no big issue. We will certainly be returning.
