Description

  • Perfect place to stay for the Tongariro Crossing and Tongariro Northern Circuit
  • Perfect ski lodge for a family or a few families.
  • Raurimu is a very safe, quiet community with children everywhere.

This bach is spacious - 5 bedrooms (all carpeted except one rimu floor) and a large lounge. Perfect for a couple or the whole family. The floors have been restored to their original polished rimu and the beautiful traditional coal range provides heating and cooking - makes the best roasties! We supply wood, but bring manuka if you want an infusion of fabulous flavor. Most of the bach is native timbers, and these have been exposed where possible for an ambiance befitting a building built circa 1900.

One portacot and baby bath.

50 DVDs to watch on the non ski days:

Plenty of warm blankets. Comfortable beds.

Bring bed linen, towels, tea towels.

There are two bathrooms, each with their own hot water cylinder, shower, toilet and handbasins. Your car will be safe and there is parking for at least 5 vehicles.

Within 3 minutes walk;

Mountain biking tracks are everywhere, with tracks ranging from flat and easy to black diamond. Recently opened is Fishers Track - boasting that 95% of it is downhill! and Old Coach Road if you want to see some impressive viaducts and tunnels.

There are horse riding operators in Raurimu, you'll often see them heading off past the front door on a trek.

Whanganui River operators are close by and offer both kayak & canoe trips on the Whanganui & other rivers.

The "Tongiriro Crossing" is close by and many walkers stay here before or after their trip.

The Pokaka Mill is a fascinating look at what went on around the time of the building of the Spiral.

There are hot pools at Tokaanu (35min away) on the edge of lake Taupo.

Hunting opportunities are everywhere - Deer, Pigs & Goats.

    This bach was great for our group of 11 as there are plenty of bedroom options as well as two separate bathrooms. The kitchen and living room are spacious and include a long table. The heat pump and coal range kept us really warm as did the individual heaters in bedrooms.The hotties were an extra bonus at night. The bach is close to the National Park village and ideal if you want to walk the Tongariro Crossing as we did. Thank you everything was great.
