Hannah's Clearing is in the heart of the Haast wilderness, offering
hunting, fishing, cray and whitebait.
For those wishing to get off the beaten track there are numerous walks into the rain-forest. In season the nearby lakes and rivers offer up salmon and trout.
The rivers offer jet-boaters the opportunity to view the country from a different perspective, and local companies offer excursions.
There are two pubs about 15 mins drive, typical West Coast hospitality with wholesome meals and boasting locally shot trophy heads.
Local helicopter pilots fly hunters and adventurers deep into the
Southern Alps or Fjordland Sounds.
So get away from the hustle and bustle of life with no TV, internet or cellphone coverage and revel in the beauty and laid-back life of one of New Zealand's last wildernesses.

Fairly convenient and quick night time stop over on way from Fox Glacier to Wanaka. Wish we could have stayed longer to explore Haast/Jackson Bay area more. Property was spacious and clean though feels like it is still undergoing renovation. Overall, a nice stay.
We will definitely be back. House is warm and comfortable and has everything one requires. The weather was excellent and we were able to take in the late afternoon sun whilst relaxing in the lounge. The sky at night was almost white with stars as there was no moon. I would consider the location to be extraordinary. Location was perfect for us as we were on a long weekend fishing trip. It is midway between Haast and Jacksons bay which is very handy to many great fishing rivers.
