Bach or holiday home | Wairoa | #28740
The residence is sited along the mighty Wairoa River with uninterrupted views across the Maori-farmed rolling hills that lead down to the ocean mouth. It is adjacent to a peaceful river reserve in one of Wairoa’s best locations.
It is ideal for a couple, a family, or group of friends with two bedrooms, (sleeps 4 +). This recently renovated house is an eclectic mix of new, old and recycled product. Its contrasting tastes are shaped with a leading edge approach to embrace this environmentally friendly home design. Bright and airy with loads of natural light, fully insulated with wool and a heat pump for warmth or cooling; ceiling fans in all areas push heat down in winter and cool cross circulation in summer with part energy efficient LED lighting.
While the design approach verges on minimalist, the ’Linen Bedroom’ is a divergence, an inner sanctum with the ornate finishes of yesteryears heritage. Enhanced with beautiful recycled linen and lace doyley curtains, native distressed timbers and gold trimmings, all give the room a rich lustre.
The inside/outside ‘Tribal (Ngati) Bedroom’ with queen bed has all the trappings of a native style; canopy curtains, African stained Wenge floors and a bi-fold opening out onto a timber deck overlooking the native tree meadow.
For the extra guests a fold out divan in the living room or Camping in the Meadow.
Quality bedware and all linen supplied.
For the gourmand, a sizable commercial-style kitchen that includes all mod cons. Cook up a storm, with local natural product or order in one of our talented local chefs. A bi-fold wall opens up onto a large dining deck overlooking a Mediterranean flavoured landscape of limestone, olive trees and river views. Or try a little camp style BBQ cooking on the brazier.
The open plan spacious dining/living entertainment areas include 2 comfy couch/divans, TV, DVD, radio, games, craft, a creative retreat for the arts, or simply a place to quietly gather your thoughts.
Special conditions: Pets allowed with prior to approval. Smoking allowed outside only with use of provided ashtrays.

The place was, on the whole as advertised, however, the reason for my negative score was because the house had a very large number of very large cockroaches. I appreciate everyone makes different lifestyle choices and Linda doesn't believe in using poisons on her property but my family and I don't share the same views and the roaches really ruined our stay.
The position of this bach is perfect. Directly across from the river. There is a fantastic walkway alongside the river. It is an easy flat walk on a wide well kept concrete pathway. But has heaps of green grass and trees all the way for doggy fun. We took our fur baby along. The bach is comfy, clean and well set up. Wairoa is also situated pretty central for day trips. Mahia beach is a must visit (50kms) Found the locals very friendly. Highly recommended. We will be back for certain.
Was a very pleasant surprise to see the decoration is very sixties. Done with tase and care. TV was not working. Did not matter= who needs a tv if you have the great outdoors of Wairoa!!1. Love the place and will be back. Another interesting point his - Linda have a massive collection of VHS movies and a recorder to play on!!!
Great beds and kitchen, the dining room was nice and the lounge was very cozy, a better TV would have been great because the one there was tiny and far too outdated, the house was freezing because the floor was drafty, the only way to combat that was to have the heat pump going and be in the lounge, the bathroom was very cramped and drafty because the windows weren't able to seal and there was a window in the shower and as soon as you turn off the water you would freeze.
