Spacious, comfortable and accommodating bach located in a quiet street in the heart of Mangawhai Heads village. Fenced and with plenty of trees and shade it is private and safe, offering plenty of off-street parking for cars or boat, places to sun-bathe, pitch tents in private, and cosy areas and seats to sit and read or nap. Gets the sun all day – all morning the sun is on the front deck seating area and lawn – by afternoon the sun swings onto the back lawn and into the BBQ area.

Olsen Ave is a cul-de-sac with little traffic. People tend to walk and cycle (bring a bike). Everything’s close. It’s a 5 minute walk along Olsen, down a path, to the boat ramp area, and the sand and warm safe swimming in the estuary. Shops and cafes are a short walk or a 1 minute drive. So is the golf course.

The bach is basic. It has no TV, no telephone, no internet and no washing machine. It does have good cellphone reception and a couple of radios. The BBQ is not new, but it's clean, has four burners, and goes well. Most of the buildings in Olsen Ave are family holiday baches, so it’s a sociable neighbourhood. Loud noise and music is rare. Most families are early to bed and to rise. People enjoy long lingering dinners around the BBQ, and this bach has a great space for that round the big table. With candles and lights.

The bach is on tank water and pressure is low. You get a good hot shower upstairs, but not high pressure. Downstairs pressure is higher, but it’s an unheated shower. Soft water at air temperature. Kitchen appliances are all reasonably new. Most furniture dates back to before the bach was built. We leave all the condiments, tea towels and suchlike. All beds come with a covered duvet and pillow. You supply sheets and pillow cases and your own towels.

Bookings are available for much of December, some of January, and other times in the year. We use it often when we can. If you would like to use it, please enquire.

Special conditions: we allow pets, but dogs should stay outside. We don't mind you having visitors during the day, and the odd overnight visit. But we ask you to stick to the numbers in the agreement. It is a quiet neighbourhood (ie not rowdy after mid-night, and generally not rowdy after 11:00pm) so we ask you to respect that. You should not play loud music outside when it's dark, and take some guidance from how your neighbours.behave. When in Rome...

The facilities at the property as Joel pointed out are of a traditional bach nature. They suited our needs and the pool table was a bonus. It has a good outside BBQ area and is a short distance to the estuary and shops.
