Traditional New Zealand Shearers Quarters. Great place for a family stay, Spottlesly Clean and tidy. Rooms are comfy and have a seperate entrance away from living area giving great privacy. Place is exactly as advertised. Great Location off the beaten track. Number policy on bookabach was not clearly stated and was not flexible with different numbers of people staying on different nights. Payment was also returned on several occasions making uncertain if stay was confirmed.
Shearer’s quarters are very basic. A genuine escape from urban life. I was a little worried how the children would cope without TV or wifi but it was amazing, we talked and played games in the evenings and enjoyed the animals, beaches and exploring the farm by day. Hannah was great, coming to get the kids and taking them to feed the animals and hand milk Daisy the cow. The entire experience turned out to be wonderful. Don’t expect the Ritz but do expect lovely people, absolute peace and the opportunity to reconnect with yourself.
Hannah was lovely and made everything easy, even finding the farm. Super friendly and a comfortable stay in a rustic Shearer's cottage. A nice break away from the rush of living in a big town and refreshing to get back to basics.
What a treat! Hannah and Rich made us feel right at home and went out of their way to ensure that we enjoyed our stay. The kids loved being involved with the farm activities and we loved the peaceful environment with magnificent views. When visiting Mahia next we will most certainly stay at Okepuha Station again.
Stay was a real insight into life on a big station on the Mahia peninsula. Hosts we're accommodating of family and ready to help. Accommodation was authentic Shearer's quarters on a working farm. Children enjoyed the animals and the space to play. Nice beach was handy.
