Bach or holiday home | Waitarere Beach | #29673
We love spending time at the bach. You immediately step back from everyday busy life and feel relaxed and calm. The bach is small but functional. Have a BBQ on the covered deck or laze in beanbags on the lawn. The local four square sells wonderful freshly baked bread and enormous ice creams. Use the local tennis courts or take the children to Waitarere Domain for a play and fish and chips. The forest has lots of lovely walking tracks. Of course, the beach is the main attraction with a walk to the shipwreck of the Hydrabad a must do! There are games and small tv and dvd in case you strike some inclement weather. But our backyard covered deck is usually good even in rain to chill out with a coffee and read the paper. Please note there is no washing machine at the bach, however the local campground will allow you to use their machines and dryers (at cost) if you ask nicely! We do have a dishwasher. In winter heat the bach with a small fan heater then maintain heat with our oil filled heaters. We also require that you take rubbish and recycling with you when you leave. There is a rubbish/recycling depot at Levin if you wanted to drop rubbish there.
Special conditions: As the bach is small with two bedrooms and one toilet it is only suitable for a couple, two couples or a small family. Sorry no pets.

Lovely little 'beachy' cottage. Really close to the beach, 4 Square, Sail On Inn pub/ cafe. Very cosy. Loved the fact the linen and towels are supplied. (We usually have to take our own.) Worth it for the extra money, esp over a short weekend. The pillows are fab! Feather and lots of them. Bed was VERY comfy. (Always a bonus in a bach.) Loads of crockery, glasses etc. Although we didn't use it, the 'games room' is a great asset. Will come back in the winter for sure! Thanks Catherine.
Although the house looks very basic and unassuming from the street, it's pleasantly surprising inside, and the back section is great if you have kids. Vodafone/2degrees cell coverage is quite poor - you can get voice calls at the house, but we had to walk to the intersection to get data connections. (Probably an ideal situation for many people!). The house doesn't have a microwave, but was otherwise well appointed, including champagne and wine glasses, and outdoor candles for the romantics.
