Golden Bay is a mecca for tourists, travellers, holiday makers, and justly

famed for its varied attractions including art hub, magnificent beaches,

good fishing, stunning scenery plus world class walks and tramps.

Attracted by the incredible beauty and serenity of the district, many artists

have made it their home.

It is also known as the 'Green' capital of NZ with, per capita, more people

voting 'Green' than anywhere else in the country.

Golden Bay has the good fortune to be blessed with some of NZ's highest

sunshine hours.

The accommodation offered is one of two apartments on the top floor of the

two-storey Art Bank. Formerly the BNZ, it was acquired in 2013 and has

undergone renovation.

This impressive building, opened Jan. 25th 1915, is the tallest building in Takaka,

and the second biggest (after the supermarket.)

Constructed of reinforced concrete on a concrete base, it has external walls over

a foot thick which makes for excellent sound-proofing qualities. Therefore, though

it is right in the middle of town, so central and wonderfully handy to everything, one

can rest assured of being able to have a good nights sleep.

The Village Market, held every Saturday in Summer, is approx. 50 meters from

your door.

A five minute stroll brings you to the lovely Takaka river.

Looking forward to welcoming you.

  • We really enjoyed our stay here

We really enjoyed our stay here. It is a gorgeous property right in the heart of Takaka town, so handy to everything. It suited our needs well. A bonus having the bedroom away from living area. The veranda is a delightful sunny area to sit and read or watch the world go by. The only adjustment would be a bit more pressure in the shower! It's a home away from home.

    Owner/manager responds:

Hello Lyndy and Noel., Have checked the shower and indeed something is amiss. It appears the mixer has developed a fault, I've contacted my plumber and await his arrival. Thank you for alerting me to this problem. Regards, Shirley Leah ps Trust your charger has arrived okay.

  • The apartment we stayed in was lovely

The apartment we stayed in was lovely. It was immaculately presented and every little thing had been thought of. The high ceilings make for a large spacious apartment that was cosy and warm.

  • Brilliant location in the heart of Takaka, literally stumbling distance to everything

Brilliant location in the heart of Takaka, literally stumbling distance to everything. Off street parking at the back, balcony to sit and have your coffee in the morning sun, spacious living room with log burner (bliss on the slightly cooler evenings of September), and a veritable library of DVDs to pick from to relax at night. Spring bonus of watching the two herons making their nest in the tree out the back on our first morning there, wish our stay had been longer!
