The cottage has a new bathroom. The kitchen is older style, tidy and functional. Off street parking available for 2 vehicles. The cottage was indeed quirky, simple and clean. Contrary to other reviewers, we did not find the house ideal for a young family, due to the security issues of children's bedrooms (with old-style window latches) fronting onto the street. At the time of our stay the atmospheric sulphur smell was particularly strong (the Government Gardens located opposite being thermally active), although the central location was great for coffees and eating out.
Majorly recommend! This place is a very nice old character house in a great location with extremely helpful owners in Lani and Paddy. Good size for a family of four or five (with a bit of double-bed sharing or sofa sleeping).
I loved the décor, transported me to many wonderful memories. It was centrally located - convenient to our conference at Novotel and Eat street. We happened to stay at a time Rotorua had snow the first time in 10 years. So being a older home with wooden floors - we did feel the cold - but the fire was there with an endless supply of wood, there were heaters in every other room and extra blankets. Great off street parking for our car. I would absolutely recommend and stay again.
Quirky cottage is aptly named. It was so cute. Very retro Kiwiana. Locality purposes it is the perfect place to stay. I highly recommend especially if you have a family. Everything was on hand to make our stay an enjoyable one. Murals were so pretty. Had an absolute fab time.
