Description

  • Comfortable, modern and cosy 3 bedroom holiday home.
  • Close to Whakapapa Skifield, 42nd Traverse and Tongariro Alpine Crossing.
  • Situated in the centre of National Park Village.

Traverse Cabin is a purpose built holiday home in National Park Village.

With super comfortable beds in all three double bedrooms (including the bed with a single bunk above), full insulation, double glazing and internal heating, the cabin is a very warm, dry and inviting home away from home after a great day skiing, tramping, cycling, fishing or whatever adventure you are returning from.

Being only 20 minutes from either one of the three highlights of the region: Whakapapa ski field; the world famous Tongariro Alpine Crossing; and one of New Zealand's top mountain cycling tracks the 42nd Traverse, you will be able to return home, relax and still have time to sit back and enjoy views of Mt Ruapehu from the lounge and deck.

Should you require a shuttle service to your days activity, you will find the cabin is just a five minute walk to either the summer transfers to the Tongariro Crossing, and to the winter shuttles to the top of the ski field road.

Please note: Although there is no television in the cabin, there is a selection of board games, books and cards for our guests to enjoy. Also if a game is on, the local pub is a fun venue to watch the action and then stagger home! (it's only a 3 minute walk or 5 minute stagger).

Extra fees:

Single night midweek stays incur an additional $40 cleaning fee. *Excludes school holidays*

Linen:

We supply pillows and covered duvets. With prior notice, we can also provide sheets and towels for our guests at an additional cost of $15 per person.

Guest Feedback:

"the house was fantastic...worked really well for a group of six. The beds were REALLY comfortable and makes your place stand out ahead of most places we've stayed in. We are looking forward to coming back." Susan.

The house is very homely, well equipped and ideally situated in the middle of National Park. Unfortunately the heaters are very noisy. We had to switch off the ones in the double bedrooms when we wanted to sleep as they were just too loud. We didn't use the heater in the lounge because it made a horrible squealing noise. There was an oil heater that we put in the lounge instead. No heater in bunk room so quite cold. The drying room was great!

Place was nice and cosy, and our party of 7 (4 adults, 3 kid) fitted well. Drying closet was a great. Two minor bugbears, both easily fixed mind you. The lights could do with an upgrade as they weren't appropriate for reading and the fan heater in the lounge needs a service as the fan is loose and makes a awful racket. Overall a great place for a skiing holiday :-)

Great simple cabin, we enjoyed our weekend here, good location, hot shower, drying cupboard, washing machine and gas cookers, double glazed windows. No tv or wifi but that is part of its charm.

  • Good little Bach within walking distance to the Park for dinner

Good little Bach within walking distance to the Park for dinner. Plenty of beds, although small bathroom for lots of people. Basic kitchen as shown in the picture, but it had everything we needed, so perfect for our mountain biking getaway.
