Huge deck at back for entertaining. Large lawn area for playing/tents. Dolphins often come into Oke Bay and many a visitor to Oke Bay Villa has swum with them. If you are into walking you won't be disappointed. There are many interesting walks: old whaling station, Kauri forest, sunken ship wreck, and many other shorter walks in and around Rawhiti. Once you are there, and you settle in, believe me, you won't want to go anywhere else! But if you do...Other things to do include: visit Russell's historic township and once the colonial capital of New Zealand (35 minutes by car). In and around Russell are Russell Museum; Big game fishing in the outer waters of the Bay of Islands Adventure; Parks; Art galleries; R Tucker Thompson tall sailing ship which cruises the islands; Sunset cruising; Restaurants, Cafes, and Wineries; Boat cruises around the Bay of Islands; The 'Hole in the Rock'; Horse riding ; The Okiato-Opua car ferry; Kayaking in the sheltered waters of the harbour; Opua to Paihia Coastal walk; Orongo Bay oyster farms; Sport fishing; Sunday markets at Kerikeri - 45 minutes north; Water-sports, diving, snorkeling and surfing; Yachting and twilight sailing (seasonal); Native forests and glow-worm caves.Points of Interest: Christ Church in Russell, the oldest church in NZ; Waitangi Treaty Grounds, Pompellier Mission, Flagstaff/Te Maiki Hill etc. Walks: Walkway from Rawhiti to the historic whaling station at Whangamumu; Walkway from Okiato to Orongo Bay; Walkway to Cape Brett Lighthouse. To watch a great video of the property, go to You Tube and search for "cape brett walking track and Oke Bay Lodge". NB: The $110 is only for a SINGLE person renting the whole 6 bedroom Lodge. The price per person goes down per night per person when large groups stay i.e. We have a sliding scale of costs. Basically, the bigger the group who stay, the cheaper the per person per night rate becomes.

Special conditions: When you book, we ask you for a $500 bond which is refunded to you if you leave the Lodge like you found it.

  • The location of the lodge is gorgeous

The location of the lodge is gorgeous. The two beaches are remote and lovely, and the house is comfortable. However, there are houses for rent that are better value and have similar outlooks. This lodge is surrounded by cameras operating 24/7 as well as random monitoring by ? - we weren't told who. If you don't mind being watched 24/7, then this is the place for you. Once I discovered Julian's works on the house may not have been legal and not endorsed by local iwi - I felt sick to the stomach

    Owner/manager responds:

It is said by seasoned property owners that one can expect one guest from hell every five years. KF was our one. We are still reeling from the stress caused by her and her three children. They were out of control. One even started a fire on our new deck. For us it was an extremely worrying time. We've never had to do background checks on people before we let them into our beautiful home, but KF has jolted us into re-thinking our policy on just about everything.

Stunning location and setting. The house has aged beautifully and was a great experience to live in for the 3 nights. We can't wait to visit again!

"Words cannot express just how beautiful this place is. The Oke Bay Lodge is a real gem - it has everything you need to fully unwind. A lovely white sand beach, great tracks, spectacular ocean view on a clear day, cosy rooms with places to curl, all embraced in history and romance. We can't imagine a better place to celebrate a 29th birthday than in this little slice of Heaven. Thank you for this unforgettable experience. Gustavo & Izabela (Costa Rica/Denmark)

What an incredible Blessing to have had the pleasure of staying at Oke Bay Lodge. The Villa is so well maintained and it is cosy, warm and homely. The views are million dollar views, the location is insanely beautiful, a paradise, and the Villa itself fits seamlessly into it's surroundings making it a total experience of relaxing, calming, nurturing and delight. Words really do not give this place justice. My new favourite place in NZ.. We will be back.
