  • Spacious deck on which to read a book, watch the water or just enjoy the native birds.
  • Local boat launching facilities either off the beach or at the local all-tide Sugarloaf boat ramp.
  • Centrally located on the peninsula ensures easy access to both west and east coast attractions.

Our bach is a roomy, simple, easy-care and a relaxing retreat. You no sooner walk in the door and the “Coromandel Cramp” sets in. It is a TV-free zone so if you can't survive without it then this may not be the place for you. There is however a great selection of books for all tastes, board games, puzzles and playing cards.

The kitchen is well equipped with the usual cooking and eating utensils. A bread maker, espresso machine and a few pantry basics are provided.

Waipapa Bay is a sheltered pebbly bay with a small sandy beach. It is located 200m down the road with safe swimming, a pontoon to play on and all-tide anchorage for large boats. After their swim the kids can stop off in the shade of the old Puriri trees to challenge each other on the bush swing. There are two kayaks for your use in the lock-up shed and a selection of life-jackets can be found in the hall cupboard.

If fishing is what it's about then you have easy access to mussel farms within and outside the harbour, or venture further into the Hauraki Gulf. Boat parking at our place is at the roadside where large trailer-boats can be accommodated on a wide grass berm. The roadside lock-up shed can be used for storing your gear and has a chest freezer in which to store your bait and freeze your catch for the journey home. Boat launching is available at the Sugarloaf public boat ramp less than a kilometre away - launching fees apply.

For those without their own boat, fishing charters operate from Hannafords Wharf located in the next bay along. Details are available from the Coromandel Information Centre.

Coromandel town is a 10 minute drive away with a selection of restaurants, cafes and local shops. The nearby 309 Road features a number of attractions including the Kauri Grove, Castle Rock and The Waterworks. In Coromandel town you can visit the Stamper battery, take local walks or visit Driving Creek Railway - a popular attraction for visitors to the area.

Absolutely loved our stay at this property. The views over the bay were breathtaking and ever changing as the sun went down. You feel less like you're away or more like you're home.

although the driveway is a little steep the view is well worth it and is close to the boat ramp which is a big bonus to us.

  • Very comfortable house with everything we needed supplied

Very comfortable house with everything we needed supplied. Location was a wee way out of town but handy to the wharf for taking an early morning fishing charter. Wonderful view. Loved the library of books!
